Book Satur--I'm not going to lie, it's Thursday.

Hello Blog, I FINISHED LINGER!
Now that we have that out of the way, let's talk about something else. 'No, tell me, how was Linger?' you ask. OH MY GOODNESS!!! It was so amazing! All I'm going to say is that Maggie Stiefvater, I applaud you. As a matter of fact, I'm checking her blog right now. And...oh my goodness. She has the cover of Lament* and Ballad** in SERBIAN. If you don't know where serbia is, look it up. But, I have relatives in Serbia and I just got uber (that's right, uber) excited! I don't even know why. I think it's probably because every time I tell someone I'm from Serbia, they say: 'HUH???" or "Ahh...I see. and then turn around and say" "Where the h**l is Siberia?" So the fact that Maggie Stiefvater put up the cover on her blog---even though it's probably just because the cover is just so hilarious---I am so overjoyed!!! GAH! (That was me being me and expressing my awesomeness.)
So Blog, you think you can top that? Just kidding.

*One of the books Maggie wrote which I am about to read.
**Second book of Lament (*)

It's Been So Long...

Oh my goodness!  Blog, it's been so long since we've talked.  'Why so long Ebony?' you might ask.  The answer is that my life has been very hectic for the past few weeks.  Nothing big, just lots of little insignificant things.
'Such as?' you might also ask because you are very disappointed in me.  First of all, I've had many quizzes and stressing tests that I've had to prepare for.  Also, I had three projects that I'm juggling and two of them are still not over with!  'Alright, that's something but it doesn't explain why you haven't written to me in over two weeks!' you say.  Yes, I agree.  There is no specific reason that I haven't written to you but one of the things that contributed to it was that I'm writing a book.  A book about anorexia.  And it's taking up quite a bit of my time because when a thought or idea pops into my head, I have to write it down, I can't just keep track of a million different ideas!  'Oh, how is your book coming along Ebony?'  Well it's going very well, thank you blog.  I've also been trying to keep my friends off my back.  You see blog, they're trying to push me into going to this teen dance thing.  Now, this is for 'cool' people.  Nerds like me DON'T LIKE going to those things.  You're saying 'well how do you know if you've never been to one?'  But the thing is blog, I have.  I've been to one of the teen dances.  Honestly, I WISHED I'D NEVER GONE!  Granted, I was sick at the time but I don't think that was the problem.  You see, the music was WAY too loud and it was three hours long of just sweaty people being sweaty and loud with each other in a really small room with really loud music.  Honestly, I'd rather be at a library or movie with my sister or friends.  So, now you see just a few reasons why it's been so long.  But we'll definitely chat soon, it's just that my library books are due back today so, bye!

Finally back to reality, Ebony

Little Women

As many of you already know, I am currently reading Linger by Maggie Stiefvater. It is so good! I'm at the part where Grace---you know what, I probably shouldn't spoil it. Sorry.
So yesterday I was just reading my way along when I realized OH MY GOODNESS! and I jumped. Thank goodness I was alone because people would have thought that I discovered a giant elephant walking out of my book. But of course I didn't. I just realized that I had absolutely no book to read after Linger until Forever comes out next summer! Agh! So I started scanning my bookcase for books that have just been sitting there forever or that I haven't got around to reading yet or any hand-me-down books.
THE SECRET GARDEN, FAIREST, SKELLIG, BRIDGET JONES' DIARY, A LITTLE PRINCESS, TWILIGHT, HARRY POTTER SERIES, SHIVER, LITTLE WOMEN. Aha! Little Women! I read Little Women in grade five and my English teacher couldn't believe his eyes. Because the book is a classic and five hundred and twenty pages. This was right after he recommended a book that I had read in grade three. I absolutely loved Little Women and plan to read it again soon. But until then we shouldn't forget about Grace and the fact that she---Ebony, don't spoil the book! Sorry. Linger first then Little Women.

Put the chicken in the oven Ebony!

Alright, I'll admit it.

Today, when I got home, I make the chicken or put it in the oven. "So What?" You're saying. But it's not that simple. I can't just say "So what if I didn't make the dinner today even though I said that I would?" I forgot to put the chicken in the oven so now I have to eat a lamb stew for dinner. Once again, I know what the chef voice inside of your head is saying. I know because the chef voice inside MY head is saying the exact same thing. It's saying "Mmm...Lamb stew. Nice and comforting. I love lamb stew! Ebony is crazy." But even though I know I should like lamb and I can't really say that I'm a good cook if I don't like lamb but...but...I'm listening to the other voice in my head. The voice that makes me just another teenage girl with just another blog. And it's saying "Ebony, you know that lamb may taste extraordinary to others but not to you. Just like certain things taste incredible to you and make others cringe." And right now, this voice is taking over the cook voice. Unfortunately. So even though I'm not hungry right now, I know I'll have to have dinner at some point when I DO get hungry. And when that happens, it's going to be lambstew.

But don't get me wrong, the lamb stew doesn't taste terrible, just, not amazing (maybe if I  add lots of cottage cheese or sour cream). And if I may just add that I'm sorry I'm venting about the food I'm having for dinner because I do know that there are starving people out there who would die of happiness to have ten spoonfuls
of this lamb stew. And I am completely sympathetic for them. I hateit, absolutely hate it (and you should know that I rarely use the word hate) when people take a bite of their apple or of their sandwich and
decide they don't like and then just pop it in the trash. Tut, tut, tut.

Yes, I didn't do the chicken.
Ebony

P.S. Mother, if you're reading this, please don't lecture me about how it's silly that I don't like lamb.
I HAVE MY REASONS!    :)

So Sick...

Dear Readers,
I must apologize for not writing on the many days I said I would. It's not that I didn't want to chat it's that I have come down with a bad cold. I've stayed home from school today and yesterday I went home halfway through the day. And on Wednesday, I didn't get any work done. Anyways, I'm in my sick pajamas and watching
Harry Potter with comfort food and my sick sweater right next to me. There's no better medicine. So I will be resuming my Blog-ering on Wednesday. In the meantime, just sit back and relax and make sure you don't get sick!
Sick, sick, sick, Ebony

Plaid

Hiya there!
So this is yet another Fashion Sunday and I want to talk to you about another trend that is very popular in my little city. Plaid.
I was just sitting in my window bench looking out the window while listening to my radio and I saw a girl pass by wearing a plaid shirt, her mother had a plaid purse and another girl was wearing a blue sweater and loose plaid pajama pants. It was like a little plaid family. So I opened my closet doors and searched for something plaid. And I'm sad to say that I didn't find much. My new Calvin Klein pajama pants are plaid and I have a shoulder bag that's plaid but not too much else. My sister wears plaid button up shirts all the time and she looks gorgeous in them. She bought one over the summer. It's green and blue and looks fantastic! So of course, I went to my computer and searched stores and runways for hints of plaid or outfits based on it. Here are some of the pictures and websites I found.

Left To Right: Ralph Lauren, Peter Som, Whitley Kros, Vivienne Westwood Red Label, Chanel

Courtney Cox Arquette is also sporting those plaid tops.
See sis? You're not the only one who wears them!

Hope I helped, Ebony.

Poems

I just recently rented a book from the library that is right across our street. Thirty seconds away if you walk. Anyways, I rented another poem book. I enjoy writing and reading poems. But then I looked on my bookcase and remembered that I have a giant poem book with nine hundred and seventy three pages. That's right. Nine hundred and seventy. I compared the two side by side and sighed. Why did I rent this? But it has many different poets that mine doesn't have. Would you like to hear one of my favourites? Here it is:

In Your Light I Learn How To Love
RUMI

In your light I learn how to love.
In your beauty how to make poems.

You dance inside my chest,
where no one sees you,

but sometimes I do,
and that sight becomes art.

AHHH! That is amazing writing. And many people have forgotten what that is like. Here is an example! This is the stuff that makes books. Little verses like these are the things that makes books into classics. Maybe not this particular one but many like this.

Ebony.
